I got my R11 last year and have since been using it with the factory settings un-tampered with (10.5 loft, neutral face). I am now trying to achieve a lower ball flight so I have turned the loft down by 1. degree making it a 9.5. degree loft. The only problem is now I am starting have a bad slice and shortened distance by about 20 yards. I like to hit a subtle fade but this is crazy?

My question is, In turning down the loft should the face set to 'Close' or should I get a lesson? When I had it set to a 10.5 loft I was consistently hitting straight 245-250 yard drives and once in a while I would get a little fade but the trajectory was pretty high and not ideal for windy days on the course. Thanks for the input guys. I've determined that it is true in turning down the loft that the face sits open a bit hence the slicing. When I messed with the virtual tuning on taylormades website it shows how the trajectory is effected by tuning and turning down loft promotes more fade. The weights are already setup draw biased. I also hit the new RBZ tp driver at golfsmith on their new launch monitor (So cool like virtual golf) just to see for myself how I can handle the 9.

loft. I was hitting a consistant subtle fade (oh yeah, just how I like it!) 270-278 yards. If I can achieve those results with my old R11 with proper tuning, I would be very happy, if not you may see my driver for sale on ebay and a new RBZ driver in my bag.

Loft on the driver doesn't affect the height of the ball as much as the shaft in the club. 1 degree wont change that much to were you will notice. What will change is you will take about 250-500 rpm of backspin off the driver, this could change the height more.

But really its the golf shaft that affects the height, because that changes how the club is coming into the ball, which affects the loft of the club at impact. If you changed the loft down, then you are going to increase side spin as well, if its a really nasty slice, then its probably your swing.

The driver might just look different enough to throw off your swing. Finally had a day where I wasn't hitting into early morning sun and it wasn't too cold to grab footage. The usual things with getting back into the groove, working on the load into my right leg in the backswing and shallowing in the downswing by thinking of the hands' exit points.

It does get better quickly, thank goodness, even if I'm not hitting all the positions. Then again, I have been working on these pieces for a long time now. Back to working on the swing tomorrow. I'm slowly finding the time to work on it again and looking forward to the grind to get back where I want to be. @iacas - I wonder whether there's something I'm missing with the last two swings.

I really struggle to keep my hybrid from flailing right and it looks to my eye like I just can't shallow it on the downswing, whilst I seem to manage it better with my 3 wood. I know the swing is far from perfect, but is there anything obvious that leaps out?

It's a custom fit club from a top fitter (Precision Golf) with a fairly bespoke shaft - can't remember it offhand, but I'm not sure it would have this much effect? Many thanks for any help you can provide.

I have mine on standard neutral, ive corrected my slice somewhat so on closed it was drawing way to much on closed + i found myself shouting 4 left a lot, its fun to try all the settings on the range, when you find a setting that works keep it there, dont keep messing every time you hit bad shots or youll be messing your self up imo higher is 12. standard is 10.5.

lower is 9. hope this helps the sound this make on the range reminds me some what of the cleaveland hi bore driver, man that thing was loud.
